Rules of Engagement

Hard Warrior is a timed, team-based obstacle course.

Teams

  • Hard Warrior: Teams are made up of 3 participants.
  • Fun Warrior / Ti Warrior: Teams may be any size.

Minimum Ages

  • Hard Warrior: Minimum age 18 years old.
  • Fun Warrior: Minimum age 14 years old, with parental permission.
  • Ti Warrior: Minimum age 7 years old, accompanied by an adult.

Equipment Provided

  • A race bib with electronic chip.
  • A meal and drinks at Basecamp.
  • Hard Warriors will receive the Warrior’s Burden to be carried around the course.

Compulsory Equipment

  • Proper running shoes, suitable for mud, rivers and rough terrain.
  • Hard Warriors only – something to carry the Warrior’s Burden with. Non-motorised load-carrying systems (stretchers, homemade rigs, backpacks, etc.) are allowed, provided the Burden is transported by the team at all times.

Recommended Equipment

  • Light trousers and gloves
  • Water, appropriately carried
  • Anti-mosquito spray / cream
  • Sun screen

Forbidden Equipment

  • Motorised carrying devices
  • Sharp objects
  • Equipment deemed unsafe by marshals.

Timing (Hard Warrior Only)

  • Timing starts when the team sets off from Basecamp and finishes when the team crosses the finish line.
  • Control marking points are set along the course and control at such points are compulsory for the participants. The timekeeper will determine the ranking of each runner.
  • Waiting times at obstacles will not be included in the final race time.
  • The fastest team wins!

Penalty and Disqualification (Hard Warrior Only)

  • Hard Warriors will receive a penalty if an obstacle is not completed successfully.
    • Penalties will be an additional time, based on the obstacle, plus push ups / squats / situps etc as determined by the Race Marshall.
  • If one of the Hard Warrior team members decides to quit, the remaining team may decide to continue but not be officially classified.
  • If the Warrior’s Burden is damaged and is not able to be subsequently donated, Hard Warriors will be disqualified from the final results.
  • Assistance from non-participants is strictly forbidden and will result in disqualification.

Penalty and Disqualification (All Participants)

A participant will be disqualified if the participant:

  • Fails to show at each checkpoint.
  • Fails to wear race bib.
  • Makes use of any type of transport during the event.
  • Insults, threatens, or strikes any race officers or members of the organisation.
  • Refuses to be examined by medical doctors at any moment during the race.
  • Uses shortcuts on the track.
  • Resells or exchanges Hard Warrior bibs. Spot checks may take place during pre‐race checking‐in on the day of the event and, in case of infringement, any participant found wearing a bib not registered under their name will immediately be disqualified from the event.
  • Is physically and psychically unfit to carry on the race.
  • Failed to show at the start line or finished the race outside of the set time.
  • Has a dangerous attitude of the runner; making use of dangerous and illegal object.

Any verbal or written position taken up before, during and after the race, of a defamatory or injurious nature, may be sanctioned by a prohibition to participate to any one of the races for one or more years, subject to nature of gravity of same, and without prejudice to any possible judicial proceeding whatsoever.

Participants must wear their race bib in the front part of their vest, at chest level, to be visible by all. Participants should be able to shout their race number at different control points if required. If any participant does not do so, they will be disqualified.

Medical

Participants must be in good health and able to run or walk 10km.

Registration

All registrations must be done through the Hard Warrior website. Payments must be paid by bank transfer or via a secure online payment to finalise registration.

Cancellation

In case of cancellation of registration by the participant, no reimbursement will be taken into consideration for any reason whatsoever (even in the case of an injury certified by a medical certificate or for a departure on a trip).

Any participant who cannot participate in the race will not be entitled to resell or give their bib to anyone. It is forbidden to run the race with someone else’s bib.

Medical Assistance

A multi-disciplinary medical team set up by the organisation will be present on site throughout the duration of the races. Members of this team will provide medical assistance to participants at each first aid station set up along the different racetracks. They will also promptly notify the Race Director of the inability of a participant to continue the race at any point.

Abandonment

If any participant abandons, they shall inform the person responsible of the nearest control point and hand to them their electronic chip. Their bib will be crossed, and they must then wait for pick-up at a pre-designated place. If the participant decides to continue the race despite those actions taken, they will do so at his own risks and no longer be under the legal responsibility of Hard Warrior.

In the event of any non-compliance with this rule, the organisation cannot be held responsible for any consequence arising therefrom. In addition, the organisation reserves the right not to entertain the registration of any such participant for future editions.

  • Hard Warrior: 11:30
  • Fun Warrior: 13:30
  • Ti Warrior: 13:00

Insurance

Hard Warrior subscribes to a public liability insurance for the duration of the event. This covers any prejudice caused to third parties and participants as a result of any act of the Organiser. Hard Warrior cannot be held liable as from the moment a runner abandons a race or is disqualified, on the basis of a medical reason or for any other reason determined by the Race Director.

Participants are expected to provide their own Medical and Accident Insurance.

Complaints

All complaints about the results must be made in writing and filed with the race organisers by emailing admin@hardwarrior.run within 30 minutes of the announcement of the provisional results.

Prize-Giving Ceremony

The Hard Warrior prize giving ceremony will be given at Basecamp at 12:00 on the day of the Event.

Photo, Video, TV and Association Coverage

All participants hereby expressly waive their right to the use images related to the race and waive their right (if any) to bring any legal proceedings in this regard against the event Organiser and its authorized partners, for any use made of his/her image. In that respect, participants will be asked to consent to the Hard Warrior Privacy Notice during the registration process. All professional audio‐visual service providers or professional photographs should obtain accreditation therefore from the event Organiser. It is hence hereby agreed that no image, photography or video film whatsoever of the Hard Warrior event may be sold to any private partner or private TV channel by any such professionals, without prior consent from the race Organiser.

Race Track Change

The organisation team reserves the right to change the racetracks at any time, without prior notice. Any such change shall not give rise to a refund of the participants’ registration fees.

Exemption of Responsibility

All participants agree to abide by these rules by virtue of their registration to Hard Warrior.

By registering to Hard Warrior, participants confirm that they participate with due knowledge of these rules, the races technicalities and their intrinsic risks and that they participate at their own will and risk.

The Organiser of the Hard Warrior shall not be liable for any incident or accident involving a participant during the event that is not a result of the act of the organiser.

Participants agree to free and hold harmless the Organiser, as well as its representatives, members of the Hard Warrior organisation team, employees, directors, sub-contractors, sponsors, advertising agents, partners and any other affiliated person or entity, or volunteer, from/against any liability, claim, compensation or lawsuit whatsoever, either made by the participant or his/her assignees, after their participation to Hard Warrior.

The Organiser will not be responsible of any damages sustained by the participant or by any damages that the latter could cause to the other participants during the event.

Amendments to Rules

These Rules may be subject to amendments which will be communicated to participants accordingly.
